On 12 July 2022, the Council of the European Union adopted the Decision on the acceptance of the euro in Croatia from 1 January 2023, and the Regulation establishing the fixed conversion rate of the kuna to the euro: 1 euro = 7.53450 kuna. As part of the preparations for the introduction of the euro, we started with the dual reporting of kuna monetary amounts, in kuna and in euros, for clients - consumers. The period of the obligation of dual price reporting to consumers begins on 5 September 2022 at the latest, and ends on 31 December 2023. The conversion will be carried out by applying the conversion rules prescribed in Article 14 of the Law on the introduction of the euro as the official currency in the Republic of Croatia. Monetary amounts that must be paid or calculated are recalculated by applying the full numerical amount of the fixed conversion rate and by rounding the resulting amount in accordance with the mathematical rules of rounding:
- if the third decimal is less than five, the second decimal remains unchanged,
- if the third decimal is equal to or greater than five, the second decimal is increased by one.
With the introduction of the euro on 1 January 2023, the recalculation will be carried out automatically, free of charge.
In accordance with the principle of continuity of legal instruments, the introduction of the euro as the official currency does not affect the validity of existing contracts and legal instruments in which the kuna currency is specified. By 15 January 2023, we will additionally send all our clients individual notifications with information about the recalculation.
